STOP PRESS:LONDON RALLY FOR TURKISH STRAYS
On 4 October 2008 World Animal Day, the peoples of the world will come together at the same time to tell Turkey to stop animal cruelty. They will gather in front of Turkish diplomatic missions around the world and send a strong warning to Turkey to terminate the killing of its stray animals.
Their counterparts in the UK will gather in London at 14:00 on this day in front of the Turkish Airlines office at 25 Pall Mall, and march peacefully to the Turkish Embassy.
Animal activists around the world have tried on many occasions to engage in a constructive dialogue with the Turkish authorities and improve the condition of the stray animals in the country. However, dialogue has achieved nothing. In fact, the purging of stray dogs continues in Didim as you read this.
On 4 October 2008, Turkey will understand that its treatment of stray animals will no longer be tolerated in any corner of the world.
Attend the London rally, and let it be known that you too want the suffering of Turkish stray animals to come to an end once and for all.

Brilliant !! , We will be at the Rally in London,
Have contacted many people who are behind this 110% .
So far 7 Countries are partaking in this , I am sure that many more will also join us, No self respecting person will condone the actions of the Turkish ministers involved in these cruelties to the dogs.
“We have to organize and become involved in well coordinated action which will involve any means necessary to bring about complete elimination of the conditions that exist …… It takes action to get action.” – Malcolm X

I will be at the London rally and I’m sure it will be huge. This horror needs to be addressed now. The Turkish government need to be accountable for their actions and the general public world wide need to know what is going on.

I will be at the rally in London….these crimes have gone on far too long, and it needs to stop.
The british public are becoming more aware…..and unless action is taken this year, to ensure this will not happen again, there will be a mass bycott…..which i and many of my friends will be backing.

I am just back from Didim, Hardly any dogs to be seen….Where are they all – very sad as many of my old favourites are gone , ones that i have known for many years. If proof is found that the municipality is doing this then i will never ever go to Turkey again.

Hi,
If we really want to change this quickly, we need support from locals, and we only get support from a major group of locals if we decide to skip our fancy holidays inTurkey and let the locals know why. If thousends of tourists choose other destinations the problem is solved before the next tourist season. I have seen it working in other countries. The tourist industry is one of the biggest means of income for Turkey, so tourists have a lot of influence which they seldom use.
